Because you most likely filmed your self-tape in sections, unless requested otherwise, you'll now need to put it together. Editing your self-tape is a lot more simple then it may seem. On a device running Android you can use an application called YouCut that can be found on the Google Play store.  Please click the Google Play button below and it will take you directly to the application, free to download.

To add: We also suggest also adding a plain black image when inserting your files, this will be used to for the title clip of the self-tape and also act as transitions.  Need access to one? Click here and save it to your images.

  1. Open up the YouCut app and once open and ready to begin select the      icon.

  2. It will now present your media library, select the relevant files and when happy select the      icon.

  3. You’ll more than likely need to trim a little bit from the beginning and end of your clips. Do this simply selecting the clip and then in the options presented select the      icon labeled trim.

  4. The clip will open up, using the dots either simply select and drag inward to trim the beginning and end. Once satisfied select the      icon and repeat the process till all clips have been trimmed.

  5. This free app does not offer transitions, so instead we will use the black image that can be found here.

  6. When saved to your phone, to insert it select the      icon. Your files will open again, source the black image and insert it.  It doesn’t matter where it shows up as we will be reorganising the clips next.

  7. You’ll need a black image at the start, end and in-between all scenes of your self tape

  8. Trim all black images/transitions between 2-3 seconds.

  9. Now you’ll probably need to rearrange all the clips. Press and hold any clip until the project timeline look changes.

  10. From here simply select, drag and drop each clip into the correct place. As well as all the transitions in the correct place, make sure your scenes are in order and ident is placed at the end. We’ve come to learn casting directors prefer it.

  11. Once happy, happy with the order select the       icon.

  12. Now everything in place go to the start of the self-tape, which should now be a black image and select the      icon labeled text.  This will allow you to make a title clip.

  13. Options to insert text will present itself, insert Victorious Management, followed by your name, followed by the role and production.

  14. Once text is inserted, you’ll see the text layer place itself above the black image. It may overlap into your first scene. To reduce the size, select it and using the arrows on either side, as you did the black images and clips, reduce the length so it doesn’t go beyond the initial black image.

  15. Now go through your self-tape, making sure you’re happy! If you missed anything or need to make changes then use what you’ve just learnt in order to do so.

  16. Once happy, select save.

  17. A menu presents itself, we suggest editing the output quality. usually 1080p produces file sizes to large and 720p is more than fine. Perhaps also consider going to 540p if your video is longer than 3 minutes.

  18. Once happy, select save and let the file start to export. Once it reached 10% your self-tape will be successfully saved to your phones files.

  19. Before sending back to us, open up your gallery and source your video. Select it and when open select the     icon followed by ‘rename’

  20. Rename the file: YOUR NAME_VICTORIOUS MANAGEMENT_CHARACTER_PRODUCTION. Once inserted press Okay and send your files back to us.
